Jarryd Dillas and Tracy Burgess land Stroke Play titles

Jarryd Dillas beat Eric West by one shot

Tracy Burgess and Jarryd Dillas were crowned Bermuda Amateur Stroke Play champions at Port Royal on Sunday.

After three rounds of action in dry, humid and challenging conditions both the men’s and ladies’ championship went down to the wire, with Dillas winning by just one shot after 54 holes and Burgess by two.

Dillas finished the competition at nine-over after rounds of 75, 73 and 74, which was good enough to beat Eric West by a shot with Will Haddrell finishing a further stroke behind.

Burgess, who had competed at the prestigious North and South Amateur Championship in Pinehurst, North Carolina, earlier in the week, recorded rounds of 78, 82 and 84 to hold off 2023 winner Vanessa Chychrun by two shots, with teenager Darina Betschart an honourable third.

Baldonick Fernandez came out on top in the senior men’s division after shooting 75, 79 and 80. That gave him a four-shot victory over Mark Ray, with Hav Trott and Arthur Jones tied for third.

There was also a tight finish to the junior division with Lewis MacFarlane beating Camilo Legere by just one shot.
