Daniel Augustus misses cut on Clutch Pro Tour debut
Daniel Augustus endured a baptism of fire on his Clutch Pro Tour debut in Oxford, England.
The 38-year-old professional made an early exit from the Rapsodo Open at the Oxford Golf Club, with a five-over 145 after two rounds leaving him eight shots shy of the projected cut.
Augustus made a promising start to the 54-hole tournament with an even-par 70 in the opening round leaving him two shots adrift of the initial cut at two under.
However, he was unable to make further inroads with a five-over 75 dashing his hopes of progressing to the third and final round of the tournament.
Augustus is one of two local golfers competing on Europe’s leading development tour and feeder to the DP World Tour which also includes fellow professional Camiko Smith, who made his tour debut at the UAE Championship in the United Arab Emirates in March.
Smith, 39, is not competing in the Rapsodo Open.
Joe Brooks, of England, holds a two shot advantage over the rest of the field in the Clutch Pro Tour event at 11-under 129 with 18 holes left to play, and was among two players who were remaining bogey-free in the penultimate round, which included compatriot Jake Ayres.
David Langley, also of England, produced the lowest round of seven-under 63 in the second round, with leader Brooks among four players carding 64.
