The potential impact of Hurricanes Humberto and Imelda has led to the postponement of the Local Qualifier for the Butterfield Bermuda Championship.

Originally scheduled to take place at Port Royal Golf Course on Wednesday and Thursday, the tournament has been put back by a week, with the opportunity to earn entry into the PGA Tour event now coming on October 7 and 8.

“Following consultation with the event organising committee and in light of the current weather forecast, which is expected to adversely affect the island throughout this week, the Local Qualifier has been rescheduled,” read a statement from event organisers yesterday.

“This decision was made based on course availability and the clear weather forecast for the new dates.

“We trust you understand that our decision-making is determined largely by circumstances beyond our control, and we thank you for your support.”
