Kenny Leseur crowned Moongate Tour champion
Kenny Leseur put another notch in his belt after being crowned 2025 Gosling’s Moongate Tour champion.
The professional was officially declared as the Order of Merit winner after the final regular season medal event at Mid Ocean Club was cancelled.
“Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are unable to host or reschedule the final regular season round at Mid Ocean Club,” organisers confirmed in a statement. “This also means that the current Order of Merit standings are now final for the season.
“We are pleased to announce that Kenny Leseur has officially earned his first Moongate Tour Order of Merit title, finishing the season as the most consistent performer across all events. Congratulations to Kenny for an outstanding season.”
Leseur picked up one win and finished in the top three in every event he competed to pip defending champion Dwayne Pearman for the title by 50 points.
The 21-year-old, who made his second appearance in this year’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship at Port Royal Golf Course, is delighted to have topped a field boasting some of the best golfers on island.
“This year I played well on the Moongate Tour,” Leseur told The Royal Gazette.
“I didn’t win as much as I wanted to, but I finished inside the top three in every event, so good consistent play got me to being the points leader at the end of the year.”
Leseur is also pleased to reap reward for the hard work he has done to improve his game.
“I have worked hard and over the last year and a half have been extremely confident in my game, which has shown in every event I’ve played in,” he said.
“The results have done the talking for me, but more than anything it has restored the confidence I had when my game was at its peak, and that’s what I’m most happy with.”
Fellow professional Chris Smith rounded out the top three in the season standings, a farther 425 points adrift of the leader.
Two-times Gosling’s Moongate Tour Championship winner Oliver Betschart, who also made his second appearance in the Butterfield Bermuda Championship this year, was the top amateur and fifth overall.
“It’s been great to take part in a few Moongate Tour events throughout the year while I’m in Bermuda, and I’ve really enjoyed the competition,” he said.
Smith and Betschart were also the only players achieving multiple victories this year.
