Daniel Augustus finishes second at Goodwill Tournament
Bermudian Daniel Augustus narrowly missed out on winning the professional division at the Bermuda Goodwill Tournament on Wednesday.
After 54 holes, with rounds played at Mid Ocean Golf Club, Tucker’s Point Club and Port Royal Golf Course, Augustus finished level on 59 stableford points with Brent Studer, who represented Metedeconk Golf Club in New Jersey, and Doug Rohrbaugh from Aspen Glen Golf Club in Colorado.
The three professionals then entered a play-off with Studer named champion after making a birdie on the first play-off, with Augustus’s birdie putt lipping out.
Bermudian Kenny Leseur finished tied for fifth, with Chaka DeSilva ending the tournament in thirteenth. Dwayne Pearman and Quinton Sherlock Jr finished tied for seventeenth, with Andrew Trott, Chris Smith, Mark Crawford, Camiko Smith and OJ Pitcher finishing further down the field.
The Goodwill Tournament, the world’s longest running Pro Am, is in its 72nd year and attracted 65 teams of four golfers from Bermuda, the United States and Canada.
The members of Toronto Golf Club came out on top at 38 under, with Augustus helping Baltusrol Golf Club into second place on 31 under. Aspen Glen Golf Club finished tied for third with Mid Ocean Club and Niagara on the Lake Club
