Daniel Augustus endured a tough outing in the opening round of the Clutch Pro Tour Tier 2 Championship in Surrey, England, on Wednesday.

The Ocean View professional shot 84 at the Clandon Regis Golf Club in Guildford, which included two double bogeys, to enter the clubhouse at 11 over.

He was four over midway through his round and fared even worse on the back nine, which he played at seven over after carding five bogeys and a double at the par-3 17th hole.

England’s Brad Bawden holds a two-shot advantage over the rest of the field heading into Thursday’s second and final round of the 36-hole championship.

Augustus is making his second straight appearance at this level after finishing 63rd among the 70-strong field last week’s Clutch Pro Tour Tier 1 Championship in Hexham.

The 39-year-old made a rocky start to the tournament after also shooting 84 in the opening round, which included three double bogeys.

However, he managed to steady the ship with a respectable 75 in the second round and fared even better on the last day of the championship featuring the top 100 players on the tour’s Tour Order of Merit.
