KEMH ‘interim chief performance officer’ to review hospital

A recently-appointed manager at the Bermuda Hospitals Board is to review performance ahead of the opening of the new hospital facility in 2014.The position of Interim Chief Performance Officer is a new one for King Edward VII Memorial, according to a BHB spokeswoman.A former civil servant in the UK, Jon Tomlinson was taken on this summer for a minimum of six months at KEMH.“He is responsible for key BHB strategies, including operational readiness for the new facility and wellness, and establishing a performance-management infrastructure across our organisation,” the spokeswoman added.“Mr Tomlinson has worked with 13 healthcare organisations in the UK over the last nine years, specifically to address performance issues and establish performance-driven cultures that utilise appropriate data to make key decisions, and establish best business practices and measurements in their operations.”The BHB did not appoint a Deputy CEO when Venetta Symonds took the helm as CEO in April — and the appointment does not represent an increase in management numbers.
