High marks: Patient satisfaction is on the increase for the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital

Patient satisfaction is rising consistently, announced the Bermuda Hospitals Board, with the release of its latest annual survey.Approval of Emergency Room services rose from 66.4 percent in 2009 to last year’s 93.2 percent.Inpatient units got 92.7 percent approval in 2012, and outpatient services were awarded 97.2 percent satisfaction.The ratings are drawn from monthly telephone surveys of 300 people who have used hospital services or been discharged within the last 30 days.The survey even covers food, and shows satisfaction with inpatient meals jumping from 66 percent in 2011 to 78.6 percent in 2012.BHB CEO Venetta Symonds said the results showed staff responding to feedback from patients.She specificially thanked the Emergency Room, calling it “by far our busiest and challenging department”.
