Get checked for prostate cancer
The Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre is offering biopsies to detect prostate cancer in men — thanks to almost $300,000 raised in donations since 2010 by its Movember campaign.
One of the most common male cancers, prostate cancer, can only be detected by biopsy, and early detection means earlier detection and increased survival.
“Prostate biopsy procedures at Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre are typically conducted within a few days following a physicians’ referral, giving men in the community access to specialists for important diagnostic testing in a timely manner,” said BCHC executive director Tara Soares.
“Waiting for results can make anyone anxious and now we are able to speed up that process significantly, while also providing full diagnostic services within the comfortable surroundings of the Centre.”
Thanks to donations, the Centre can cover the cost of biopsies and diagnostic imaging for those without insurance or who are unable to pay for medical care.
