Binns stands by public health team
The public health response team at the health ministry was thanked yesterday by the Head of the Public Service for its handling of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Derrick Binns said the past five months had been “some of the most difficult and challenging that our country has faced” and praised the group's “focused expertise, dedication and professionalism”.
Dr Binns said: “These frontline essential workers have worked tirelessly, day and night, week after week, month after month around the clock with one goal in mind — keeping Bermuda and all its residents safe.”
He added: “They have put the needs of the country first.
“These selfless public officers are a testament to the best of humanity, and they deserve our sincerest thanks and appreciation for their sacrifice during one of the worst public health crises the world has seen.”
Dr Binns said the team had “represented the Government of Bermuda with pride”.
He added: “To that end, I extend my support to them under these trying circumstances — and most of all, I extend my absolute gratitude for the work they continue to do to keep Bermuda safe.”
