One of Bermuda’s most popular eateries was forced to close for the day yesterday after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.

The Swizzle Inn on Blue Hole Hill, Hamilton Parish was shut in order for the property to be deep-cleaned and sanitised. All staff are also being tested for the virus as a precaution.

A spokesman for the restaurant and bar said: “We learned a member of our team tested positive for Covid-19.

“Fortunately that person is suffering only minor symptoms and had not been at work since last Friday and only for a brief period of time.

“Our staff and guests’ safety is always our paramount concern and we are working closely with the department of health to ensure we do all we can to keep everyone safe, as we have done all throughout the pandemic.”

The spokesman added that the restaurant is expected to be open again today “after all protocols have been completed and test results received”.
