Health carnival today to celebrate wellness

Health and wellness are to be celebrated carnival style as part of an event taking place today.

The Health Promotion Office of the Department of Health will host the Celebrating Wellness: Carnival Ready Health Extravaganza in Victoria Park from 4pm to 8pm.

A spokeswoman for the ministry said: “This event will increase awareness and promote measures to address the epidemic of non-communicable diseases which continue to severely impact Bermuda's health, economy and development.

“Attendees can peruse the booths, interact with various organisations, participate in activities and enjoy live entertainment.

“Please join us for a fun-filled evening.”

Among the health vendors are the Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute, Bermuda Diabetes Association, Bermuda Red Cross and BDA Pilates.

Entertainment includes the Carnival in Bermuda Soca Truck, Step This Way, Longevity Athletics Bermuda and the Bermuda Jump Rope Federation.

There will also be a climbing wall, massages, self-care tips and a booth about vertical farming.

Kim Wilson, the Minister of Health, will give opening remarks at 5pm.
