Fair added to annual wellness walk

A wellness fair will feature at a walk in October aimed at raising funds for a mental health charity’s communal housing programme.

The Steps to Mental Wellness 5km Walk, presented by the Bermuda Mental Health Foundation in partnership with CG Insurance and Zest Wellness, will start from the Botanical Gardens.

The event, which is in its third year, will run from 8am and feature a wellness fair at 9.30am.

The BMHF said: “This annual event is a celebration of community, health and hope, bringing together individuals, families, companies and organisations to take meaningful steps towards mental wellness.”

Registration comes with participation in the walk, an event T-shirt and the opportunity to support the foundation’s communal housing programme for individuals living independently within our community while managing mental health challenges.

The registration fee is $35 for adults and $15 for students.

This year, the BMHF will introduce four new features, including an Employer Fundraising Challenge for companies, government agencies and healthcare providers.

It will also feature a Schools Challenge for students, staff and families to walk and raise funds.

In the Families Challenge, people and their loved ones can walk “together for a stronger Bermuda”, the BMHF said.

The event will also feature a Friend Groups Challenge in which friends can unite for mental health awareness.

Trophies and special recognitions will be awarded to the top performers in each category.
