Genetic profiling offers ‘next frontier in preventive care’
A health insurer has teamed up with biotech firm CariGenetics to offer improved nutrition and fitness to its clients.
Coralisle Group Ltd unveiled a programme for a confidential genetic test to explore lifestyle-related factors such as nutrient metabolism, exercise recovery, muscle composition and optimal training approaches.
The service is available through the Zest Wellness Biometric Screening programme.
Each participant receives a detailed report with tailored recommendations based on their unique genetic profile.
They can also access online resources and workshops led by Alex Dill, a health and wellness coach.
Naz Farrow, the chief executive of CG Insurance, said: “Genetic testing represents the next frontier in preventive care.
“Through this partnership with CariGenetics, we are expanding our ability to support our members with tools that are tailored, empowering and rooted in science.”
CG client Anthonette Simons said she had picked up “valuable insights into my health and wellbeing”.
She added: “Knowing what I am and am not predisposed to motivates me to make certain changes.
“I’m a lot better physically than I thought, and now that I have the genetic profile, I can make environmental changes that will benefit my overall health.”
All data collected through the wellness genetic testing programme is securely stored by CariGenetics and remains strictly confidential.
The programme does not screen for disease or medical conditions.
