Warwick Academy buzzing with ‘wellbeeing’ campaign
Pupils and staff at Warwick Academy have been abuzz with kindness and connection during their observance of Mental Health Awareness Month.
The school’s dedicated wellbeing teams at primary and secondary level shaped a vibrant campaign dubbed “WellBEEing Month”.
A spokeswoman said: “The theme? The humble bee — small, vital and full of purpose — offering a perfect symbol for how individual acts of kindness and support can build something far greater together.”
Each week in May has been built around a different uplifting message, encouraging the entire school to reflect on the values that help people thrive both mentally and emotionally.
They included Bee Kind, Bee You, You Beelong Here and Beelieve in Yourself.
The spokeswoman explained: “With guidance from the counselling department, students have been participating in class discussions and activities during homeroom and circle time, using these weekly themes as springboards to talk about mental health in a safe and age-appropriate way.
“The result? A school buzzing with empathy, openness and support.”
Warwick Academy was holding its mental health and wellbeing grub day today.
“Students and staff will wear yellow to symbolise hope and mental health advocacy,” the spokeswoman said.
A drive-by event this morning was expected to feature pupils at the school’s entrance where they would wave signs and encourage passing drivers to “BEEp” their horns in solidarity.
Proceeds from the grub day will go towards Amber’s Wings, an organisation that supports youth mental health.
Kim Siwiec, the school’s head of counselling services, said: “We’re so proud of the creativity, commitment and compassion our students and staff have shown.
“Together, we’re helping our community be kinder, more connected and more aware of how we can support ourselves and each other.”
