Cancer centre releases its fundraiser line-up for autumn
A cancer care charity has released its line-up of fundraising events throughout autumn.
The Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre announced three events scheduled to run before the end of November.
Debbie Narraway, its chief marketing and fundraising officer, said the activities were crucial for building the charity’s equal access fund for free screenings and treatment.
She added: “This season marks a special time in Bermuda, when families, friends, schools and workplaces can connect for a shared purpose — to walk, run and grow in support of cancer awareness.
“From the BF&M Breast Cancer Walk to the Axa XL Man on the Run 5K and MOvember Bermuda, each event offers a meaningful way to raise awareness, inspire conversation and bring care, hope and education to those who need it most.”
The 29th annual BF&M Breast Cancer Awareness Walk was designed to raise awareness of the illness and money to fund research combating it.
Registration has opened online and the walk will take place on October 15, beginning at Barr’s Bay Park.
Attendees were encouraged to wear their oldest breast cancer walk shirt or any pink shirt.
The Axa XL Man on the Run 5K brings together men to raise money for men’s cancer care and free health education programmes.
The men-only event on November 9 is open to adult walkers and runners and will feature a school spirit challenge to recognise the school with the greatest participation.
MOvember Bermuda, held throughout November, will encourage the public to grow moustaches or host fundraising events such as barbecues or sports activities.
The campaign will culminate in a MOfinale event, where participants can get a fresh shave and discuss men’s health at the Modern Gent salon on Queen Street.
