Wellness fair to foster a healthier Bermuda

Vendors and health organisations have been encouraged to participate in an annual mental wellness walk to offer the community a chance to explore “holistic tools” for healthier living.

The Steps to Mental Wellness 5km Walk on October 11, presented by the Bermuda Mental Health Foundation in partnership with CG Insurance and Zest Wellness, will start from the Botanical Gardens.

The event, which is in its third year, will run from 8.30am and feature a wellness fair at 9.30am.

The BMHF said that the fair will transform Camden House Lawn into a hub of resources, vendors and activities that celebrate physical, emotional and mental wellbeing.

It said: “This year’s walk is more than just a 5K — it’s a movement for mental health.

“Hundreds of participants are expected to come together to walk, share and strengthen their commitment to breaking stigma and fostering a healthier Bermuda.”

The foundation said that the event continues to grow as a cornerstone of community wellness and mental health awareness across the island.

The registration fee is $35 for adults and $15 for students.

The event will feature an employers fundraising challenge for companies, government agencies and healthcare providers.

It will also feature a schools challenge for students, teachers and staff to prioritise health and teamwork.

The BMHF said that the families challenge will celebrate togetherness and the power of support systems.

The event will also feature a friend groups challenge for pals “to walk side by side for a cause that matters”, the BMHF said.

It added: “These challenges are designed to build camaraderie, spark friendly competition and shine a light on the importance of collective wellness.”
