Residents of more than 20 streets across the island will have a chance to benefit from the Bermuda Diabetes Association’s “Spooky Streets” Hallowe’en campaign.

From Pain Lane to Witchery Lane, the BDA’s Community Pharmacy will add a “playful twist” to Hallowe’en, celebrating Bermuda’s eeriest-sounding street names by rewarding residents who live there with exclusive in-store savings, a spokeswoman said.

Until October 31, customers who can show valid proof of residence on one of the recognised “spooky streets” such as Sleepy Hollow Drive, Suffering Lane, Devil’s Hole Hill and Burnt House Drive will receive a 30 per cent discount on their over-the-counter pharmacy purchases at the checkout.

“We wanted to do something unique that blends the fun aspects of Hallowe’en with our ongoing commitment to the community’s health,” said Francesca Wyatt, marketing and community relations co-ordinator at BDA Community Pharmacy.

“Many of Bermuda’s streets have wonderfully eerie names, and this felt like the perfect opportunity to turn them into something fun and rewarding for our customers.”

A full list of eligible streets will be available in-store and on the pharmacy’s website.

Adding to the festive spirit, the pharmacy on Princess Street in Hamilton will be decorated for Hallowe’en throughout October.

Ms Wyatt said: “We hope this campaign brings a smile to the community, whether you live on a spooky street or not.

“It’s all about celebrating the season in a way that’s creative, light-hearted and uniquely Bermudian.”

Meanwhile, the BDA will host chronic kidney disease screenings on October 31 from 9am to noon.

The events are being held as the charity prepares to undertake several initiatives for Diabetes Awareness Month in November.
