X-ray equipment at urgent care facility to be replaced
Ageing X-ray equipment at the Lamb Foggo Urgent Care Centre in St David’s is to be replaced, with work to begin next week.
A Bermuda Hospitals Board spokeswoman said that the project is part of a wider effort to upgrade older diagnostic equipment.
Since March 2025, the BHB has installed new CT, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine and X-ray equipment at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
Terricca Smith, the manager of imaging services at the BHB, said: “The X-ray equipment at the UCC is over 15 years old.
“We’re really pleased that it’s being replaced by new equipment from GE as the old equipment is suffering from some serious maintenance issues.”
Ms Smith said X-ray equipment will be removed from the UCC on Monday, followed by “extensive renovations” of the room, with the new equipment expected to be installed and ready for use by March.
She added: “This diagnostic service can be very helpful in the urgent care setting, especially for minor injuries and sprains to check for any fractures or broken bones.
“While the X-ray equipment is being replaced at the UCC, we will direct people to KEMH if X-rays are required.”
The Lamb Foggo Urgent Care Centre is open every weekend from 9am to 9pm.
