Divers will not be able to use the hospital’s hyperbaric oxygen chamber for emergencies until next week, the Bermuda Hospitals Board has announced.
A spokeswoman said: “The hyperbaric team started emergency treatment today of a patient who requires a series of sessions in the chamber over the next week.
“As a result, the hyperbaric chamber will not be able to offer emergency dives during this period.”
The facility is expected to reopen to divers and other patients on February 18.
Staffing issues forced the chamber, used to treat diving-related injuries, soft tissue infections and several other ailments, to close last February, August and from December 11 until January 29.
