The Ministry of Health will observe Public Health Week from today with four days of activities.

The week will have the theme Ready, Set, Action! to help participants appreciate the progress made to be healthier while preparing to do better for the future.

The week will begin this morning with a pop-up clinic at the Ministry of Health headquarters on Church Street, Hamilton, between 10am and 2pm.

The clinic will promote healthy living, offer free health screenings and remind the public of the ministry’s public health services.

Tomorrow, the Ministry of Health will hold the Pauleter Stevens 5K Memorial Walk at 4.30pm in honour of the public servant who advocated for chronic disease awareness.

The Youth Fun Fitness Activities event will take place at Victoria Park and feature physical activity stations and interactive Department of Health booths.

The event is open to children aged 4 to 16, though it is invitation only for some government holiday camps.

Public Health Week will conclude on Friday with a Staff Appreciation Day/Health Heroes Recharge event for Ministry of Health employees to celebrate their team.

Kim Wilson, the Minister of Health, said: “Public Health Week is a reminder that every one of us has a role to play in building a healthier Bermuda.

“Ready, Set, Action! is more than a theme — it is a call to move from intention to meaningful change.

“Whether we are promoting physical activity, supporting our children or caring for our own wellbeing, the choices we make today shape the health of our island tomorrow.

“I encourage everyone to participate in this week’s activities and take one positive step towards a stronger, healthier future.”
