Hockey showdown ends in stalemate

Bermuda Hockey Federation men’s All-Stars 4

Donovan Simmons and Tyler Smith both scored twice for the national team, while Nigel Deane grabbed two goals for the All-Star side in a thrilling draw in the first of a best-of-seven series.

Simmons scored the first goal inside ten minutes, before Smith doubled the lead shortly after.

Andrew Brouwer pulled a goal back for the All-Stars less than a minute after Smith’s first strike, but Simmons and Smith netted again in the 20th and 34th minutes respectively to push their side to a 4-1 lead.

Keir Savage brought his side within two in the 45th and then Dean strolled to the forefront and got his two goals in the in the space of a minute late in the match to leave the two sides on even terms.

Women’s B Division

Wildcats 0 Canaries 0

The Wildcats had the better of the exchanges between the two sides in this scoreless draw, thanks in large part to Canaries goalkeeper Tami Ray.

Not to be outdone, Wildcats ‘keeper Anti Williams pulled a couple of key saves late in the match

Longtails 0 Budgies 3

Three different scorers ensured Budgies got all three points in their match with the Longtails.

Jaselle Smith scored the opening goal for the winners in the 33rd minute.

Although their side consisted of mostly teenagers, Longtails made Budgies work for their win.

Francesca Cacae got her name on the scoresheet in the 42nd minute, and Kaitlyn Miller’s goal five minutes later rounded off the scoring.
