Specialty reinsurance reshuffle at Willis Re

Willis Re reshuffled senior management at its Global Specialty business on Tuesday in a move aimed at growing the division under new executive chairman Graeme Moore.According to The Insurance Insider, Global Specialty chairman Chris Clark is moving up to the position of deputy chairman of Willis Re with immediate effect.And Mr Moore, who was recently hired, will take on the role of executive chairman of Global Specialty once his notice period is complete, serving on Willis Re’s operational and executive committees, the online publication reported.The Insurance Insider stated that in an internal e-mail to staff, Willis Re global CEO John Cavanagh highlighted marine and energy reinsurance specialist Clark’s ‘stellar’ career of more than 30 years at Willis. “His extensive experience will enable him to make a significant contribution to the senior management team at Willis Re, as well as driving the further development of our speciality offering,” he said. Moore would provide a “wealth of experience that will be central to accelerating our future sales growth in Willis Re, particularly in speciality”.Also according to The Insurance Insider, Cavanagh also outlined several other moves in the division.Jonathan Marsh, previously managing director of non-marine speciality, and Jerry Ridge, previously managing director of marine and energy speciality, have both been promoted to co-CEOs of Global Specialty Re and join the reinsurance broker’s executive committee.“While both are firmly part of the speciality reinsurance establishment, Jonathan and Jerry will bring a fresh dynamism to the leadership of the Global Specialty division, and will spearhead its evolution in the future,” Cavanagh said.Meanwhile, Andrew Law is promoted to managing director of non-marine speciality and Timothy Compton to managing director of marine and energy speciality.The duo will work closely with Mark Hudson, managing director of aerospace speciality, and Justin Gardner, who has been hired from General Re to lead the broker’s US speciality division.
