Adderley to speak in Chicago

Brad Adderley, Bermuda managing partner at law firm Appleby, is to speak at the 2022 Society of Actuaries Life Meeting next week in Chicago.

The firm said the three-day annual event, to be held from August 23-26, typically attracts senior annuity, finance, life and reinsurance professionals.

Mr Adderley will speak on a panel session titled “Life & Annuity Sidecars” to provide an overview of life and annuity sidecars, and considerations for insurers and investors.

The SOA invited Mr Adderley to participate in its Chicago event following last month’s Bermuda International Long Term Insurers and Reinsurers roundtable hosted by Appleby.

During the roundtable, Mr Adderley led an information session to Biltir members on life sidecars.

According to the SOA, Appleby said, sidecars are prominent in the US life & annuity industry as an alternative reinsurance structure whereby life & annuity insurers can access third-party capital and new capital providers can support insurers in de-risking their balance sheets.
