The shareholders of Aegon NV, the Dutch international financial services holding company, have approved its cross-border conversion into a Bermuda limited company at an extraordinary general meeting.

After completion of the EGM, the company said, the change of Aegon’s legal seat to Bermuda has been put into force, as a result of which the company became a Bermuda entity, Aegon Ltd.

The Bermuda Monetary Authority is now Aegon’s group supervisor.

As previously announced, the change of Aegon’s legal domicile to Bermuda will allow the company to maintain its headquarters in the Netherlands, remain a Dutch tax resident and maintain its Euronext and New York Stock Exchange listings.

Aegon’s portfolio of businesses includes fully-owned subsidiaries in the US, UK and a global asset manager.
