Mya Peets wins 2025 Deloitte Scholarship
Mya Peets has been named the 2025 Deloitte Scholarship recipient.
Financial services firm Deloitte said Ms Peets was chosen due to her astuteness.
She is studying online and is entering her final year at Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Ms Peets is expected to graduate in May 2026 with a bachelor’s in business administration in association with Bermuda College, majoring in accounting.
“I am appreciative of Deloitte for selecting me as the recipient for the 2025 Deloitte Scholarship,” Ms Peets said. “This has been a long road, and I’m grateful for the opportunity while I complete the final year of my degree.”
Over the course of three years, the scholarship can give up to $30,000 annually. Undergraduate students from Bermuda, who want to study accounting, actuarial science or other business-related subjects, can apply.
Ms Peets has participated in Deloitte’s Exclusive Experience Programme in the audit and assurance department.
Deloitte said with each internship Ms Peets has gained more understanding of what is expected of an auditor.
Once she graduates, she plans to pursue the chartered professional accountant designation, with Deloitte’s support.
“At Deloitte, we look for people who are innovative and driven to add value to, and make an impact through, their work,” said scholarship committee member, Heldar Carreiro. “We want to support local talent so that they may achieve their professional goals by investing in them. Deloitte hopes she continues to succeed, and looks forward to supporting her, monetarily and via her job experiences.”
College students and recent high school graduates who are considering a career in financial services are invited to attend Deloitte’s student networking event on July 14.
