Hayward outlines work last year empowering Bermudians
The Government made economic headway last year in empowering Bermudians with skills, protections and enhanced opportunities, the Minister of Economy and Labour said.
Jason Hayward released his ministry’s 2025 Year in Review report, highlighting progress in strengthening the island’s economy and modernising public services while fostering “inclusive and sustainable economic growth”.
He added: “From modernising immigration services and strengthening workforce pathways, to enhancing labour protections and advancing our digital economy, this report reflects meaningful progress across our mandate.”
The report, Advancing Economic Resilience and Service Modernisation in 2025, gave an overview of the ministry’s work across departments including immigration, workforce development, statistics, economic development, the registry general and labour.
It outlined key reforms, policy advancements and service improvements last year.
Highlights included progress on digitalising immigration services, expanded apprenticeship and national certification pathways and increased investment in youth employment and skills training.
It also spotlighted strengthened labour protections, including minimum wage adjustments and advances in intellectual property and trademark modernisation, as well as improved data quality and accessibility through the Department of Statistics.
Fintech was supported through targeted education programmes and grants.
