Celebrating 80 years of labour in Bermuda

The Bermuda Industrial Union is hosting a new photo exhibition this week to mark 80 years of the island’s labour movement.

The BIU executive board invited members of the public to the launch at the organisation’s headquarters at Union Square in Hamilton on Friday afternoon.

A BIU spokesman said: “This event marks the beginning of a series of activities celebrating years of the labour movement and the founding of the Bermuda Industrial Union in 1946.”

The featured exhibits will pay tribute to eight decades of trade unionism, along with EF Gordon, founder of the BIU and a National Hero, and the theme of history repeating itself.

The launch is to run from 4pm to 7pm and includes a happy hour, light refreshments, an open house and music by DJ Juggling Jason.
