The hotel at the centre of a demonstration this week that saw staff down tools for a half-day assured the public that services were now running smoothly.

A spokeswoman for the Hamilton Princess & Beach Club said there was an “internal workplace matter involving one of our teams” on Monday.

She added: “We take such matters seriously and the issue has been resolved.

“Hotel operations continue as normal, and we look forward to continuing to provide the high level of service and hospitality our guests expect.”

More than 20 people, understood to be from the housekeeping department, stopped work and met behind the hotel’s south gate at about 11am.

Representatives of the Bermuda Industrial Union joined them at about 11.30am and walked with some of the staff to meet their employers.

Khryshae Furbert-Wilson and Chris Furbert, both with the BIU, said at about 2pm that discussions had been resolved.

It is still unclear what caused the three-hour stand-off.

The BIU was contacted regarding the cause of the walkout, but did not respond by press time.
