A golden opportunity
November 30, 2010
Dear Sir,
What wonderful news that our new Premier calls for a coming together of the people of Bermuda, including the political parties. It is ludicrous that half the brain power in Bermuda is in the so-called “Opposition” when everyone should be working together for the good of the country. I am certain that many people are frantic about the way Bermuda is heading, and very worried about our enormous debt. It must be remembered that 48 percent of the population voted for the UBP, and now the Honourable Paula Cox has a golden opportunity to unite the country by making either Bob Richards or Grant Gibbons the Minister of Finance in her new Government. There was no party politics during the glory days of Bermuda not so very long ago, and it would be wonderful to placate a large portion of the island, and stop all this bickering, by using the considerable brain power of some of the members of the “other side”. Please don't dismiss this suggestion out of hand. Bermuda is at a crossroads and Dr Brown's Government has divided the people of this Island on racial and Party lines. Ms Cox has the courage and popularity to heal the wounds caused by Dr Brown's years in power and I urge her to consider this suggestion.

They will be totally lost
December 1, 2010
Dear Sir,
The children and young adults that are committing these heinous crimes that are destroying our community have been thought to be illiterate and dumbfounded. I suggest that we simply change the name of the road in which the gang “42” hangs out to “Parkside Avenue” and change the name in which the “Parkside gang” hangs out to “43 Avenue”. If in fact the so called “gangsters” are illiterate and dumbfounded, they will be totally lost as to what to do, and will possibly cease the violence due to the fact that they “won't” fight for the other side!

Delighted to read...
December 1, 2010
Dear Sir,
Delighted to read that money was saved by converting a private car into a GP vehicle, but confused because “Dame Jennifer ... said no monies had been handed over for the deal” whereas “a Government spokesman said ... the decision was taken to purchase her private vehicle”. Maybe Bermuda can use the same financial process to buy the HMS

A baffling purchase
December 1, 2010
Dear Sir,
Like most money-conscious Bermudians, I am baffled by Government's purchase, re-spraying and licensing of the Education Minister's private car. How can this be championed as a cost-saving measure? Why is there a need to paint it blue? Surely there is no legal requirement and only increases the cost. If Government is going to talk the talk (about expense cuts) it must walk the walk and the expensive Government car fleet is a good place to start.

For more free parking
December 2, 2010
Dear Sir,
The retail trade in Hamilton is in crisis and suffering greatly. As a community activist, I am urging open free parking in Hamilton for all of December. By having open parking, our people can shop in our own Bermudian businesses and keep jobs and the economy strong. Let's provide local stimulus by allowing free parking over Christmas.
