Fishing is not for Sport

June 10, 2011Dear Sir,Pardon my finicky objection, but why does The Royal Gazette place an article about “Anglers from afar in for Light Tackle tourney” in the Sport section of the paper? The tournament reported on in the June 10 edition cannot possibly qualify as a sport, because it is evidently an activity involving killing living creatures with intent and for human amusement.I suggest the editors place future articles of this nature and images depicting dead trophy fish in the Business section, where they would make a very appropriate contribution on a day when the paper reports on wasteful resource depletion or particularly despicable business practices. Alternatively, I suggest running such articles and photos right next to the obituary columns, so an already mournful reader would have a chance to regret the fact that some people still don't get it.JENS ALERSCity of Hamilton
