First, negotiate

June 13, 2011Dear Sir,As usual, I ask Almighty God for His guidance with the words that follow. It is understandable that one's attention might have been diverted from the African continent for a time, when one considers all of the situations that have arisen elsewhere in the world, and indeed locally. Appreciably, the pace of the crises is so that it is difficult to assess and respond. Notwithstanding, I wish to highlight the dire state of affairs as it exists in Libya, a member state of Africa, and to encourage all members of the African Diaspora to gather information, and once apprised, to act.May it suffice for now, however, to quote the words of His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I in The Spirit of Africa speech:“ ... We would refer, in particular, to the resolution which pledges each nation on this continent to oppose subversive activities, to refrain from the conduct of any hostile propaganda campaign directed against another African state, and to resort to negotiations for the settlement of disputes between member states. These undertakings, if they are implemented in good faith, should go far to remove many of the causes of friction which have from time to time impaired intra-African relations in the past, and further strengthen the African Unity Charter.”May Almighty God bless you in your labour.RASTAFARISouthampton
