Why we are hurting

July 17, 2011Dear Sir,We have all noticed the increased cost of filling a grocery bag and yes, we are all concerned that the big food stores may be making a little more than an acceptable margin in these difficult times. Probably not, but the question has to be asked and what better time than in the run up to a general election? I had to laugh though when the Civil Service Union led the complaints about grocery cost increases when their members are the only large organisation to get a pay rise in recent years, and The People have to fund it! The rest of us have to find the additional cost from shrinking net income so our bags are only half filled nowadays. If the PLP Government hadn’t squandered so much of our own and borrowed money and we didn’t have to spend almost $200,000 every single day to pay just the interest payments on the obscene loans they have taken out, then every charity and social service could get all the funding they needed to help those in need and every family that is struggling could have been given $50 every single week to help buy groceries. World recession, yes, it does impact us, just like everybody else but the PLP Government’s mismanagement of our economy has made it far worse than it needed to be. The PLP, far from being the Government of The People, are the single main reason that lower income and no income families are hurting so badly.TIME FOR A CHANGEPembroke
