Walk a mile in their shoes

August 9, 2011Dear Sir,I'm surprised to see that some people are actually in favour of the racist graffiti artists and would like to let them know what kind of future they're in store for if the guest workers all went home. After devastating the economy with their departure, the thousands of guest workers that we've alienated will tell everyone that Bermudians are racist, which will only hurt tourism and international business, not to mention destroy any chance of reaching an Asian market made up of billions of potential customers that the guest workers were actually helping us reach better than any ad could have. The real problem is that so many people have left the Island in the past few years and that will only continue as the economy takes a nosedive and the crime rate increases. Eventually our reputation in international business and tourism will die, and here's where the fun begins! Why, you ask? Because now your country will have the same problems as the countries those people came from and now you'll be the one trying to find work overseas to feed your family! You'll have to live in a strange land and deal with racists who want you out of their country, even though you're doing the work they don't want to do! And here's the best part! The guest workers you've attacked today will be the co-workers who will shun you tomorrow. Won't it be fun walking a mile in their shoes?AN AGENT FOR CHANGEWarwick
