Think twice

August 19, 2011Dear Sir,The current bus strike is a serious matter. However I had to chuckle when Mr Furbert criticised an individual who asked to be reimbursed for his taxi fare (since there were no buses). Mr Furbert’s comment included, and I quote, “How many people around the world when this kind of stuff happens, actually send an e-mail to the Union leader and say ‘you know I was disadvantaged by that and someone needs to pay me.’ That is the height of arrogance. And stupidity I might say.”In response I have a few questions for Mr Furbert. How many people around the world would support a ferry driver who collided with a dock while under the influence of alcohol? How many people around the world would argue you aren’t drunk if you can still stand up (you will recall that was one of Mr Furbert’s defences of the ferry driver)? How many people around the world would support an individual who calls in sick and then shows up at the same location to do another job (the previous bus strike threat)? I think Mr Furbert might what to think twice before he makes comparisons to the rest of the world and may I suggest this current strike is the height of arrogance. And stupidity I might say.KENT SMITHSt George’s
