Insulted by lack of invitation

Apology and respectNovember 11, 2011Dear Sir,I would like to apologise to His Excellency the Governor and all my fellow War Veterans for not being present at the Remembrance Day service at the Cenotaph this year. Although it is two years since I was able to lay the wreath, I have always been present as a spectator, and I thank Jack Lightbourn for standing in for me. I was very disappointed that I could not be present as I have not missed a Parade in over 20 years.I had every intention of being present at the service at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity, which is the usual venue for the service in inclement weather. I arrived at the Cathedral at 10.15am and discovered no sign of activity. Canon Lynas told me that he had not been contacted with regard to the service. I sympathise with my fellow War Veterans who stood out in the rain to pay their respects to their fallen comrades. In closing, I would mention that I did not receive the usual invitation to the Remembrance Day Service, and I think that the lack of proper organisation and information as to the venue is an insult to all War veterans and to those who take part in the Ceremony.FRANK J FARMERPresident of the War Veterans Association
