Unions can damage usDecember 6, 2011Dear Sir,It was extremely depressing to hear the views of the Bermuda Industrial Union expressed on local television on December 5. No more work permits should be granted at any level, according to the broadcast. Is the Union unaware that the wealthy executives that bring their business to Bermuda are the very people that create the jobs so desperately needed by Bermudians?Unions are capable of irreparable damage, and the BIU could well be responsible for the loss of a cruise ship, owing to irresponsible strike action with transportation in the middle of our tourist season. Let us hope that the average Bermudian is intelligent enough to know that we should welcome International Business and all overseas investment with open arms, if we ever hope to restore the wealth and prosperity, and full employment, that once was ours.E RABENPaget
