Seeking original Bermuda art

January 15, 2012Dear Sir,You and your colleagues were most kind to give me and my Bermuda art-history research such a prominent write-up in your Thursday January 12th edition. May I, however, ask for a little more of your indulgence, to allow me to reiterate (since the point did not make it into the final article) that I would be happy to hear from readers of your newspaper who may own original artworks that depict Bermuda scenes or Bermuda themes, with a view to my possibly being able to have a look at such artworks, as part of my ongoing research?I can best be contacted by e-mail at jonathanevans36[AT]hotmail.com. (Please note, though, that in view of how immensely prolific the late Alfred Birdsey was, I am afraid that at this stage I must politely decline in advance to view anything further by him other than oil paintings or his early watercolours.)Whilst writing, perhaps I might also usefully add that although the majority of artists covered in my series of books were indeed visitors to our fair shores (as highlighted in the article), there are also many Bermudian artists (little-known ones, as well as the more famous names) who are chronicled in my books. And if I have inadvertently omitted any Bermuda painters (the books are available in a number of libraries, for those who want to check, or they can e-mail me), I would of course be pleased and grateful to be informed about them. Thank you again for your time and trouble, and my thanks also to your readers for any assistance they can give me.JONATHAN LAND EVANSPaget
