May 1, 2012Dear Sir,I am an online reader of The Royal Gazette, and I am appalled at the slap on the wrist, and hardly even that, that the visiting Harvard professor just got for importing cannabis into Bermuda. The ruling in her case underlines the general impression that there’s one law for the man in the street and a different interpretation of the same law for the highly placed and well connected. By her own admission, Mey Akashah knew that the drug was illegal on the Island. She deliberately chose to flout the law and no doubt expected to get away with it! The system has proved her right.
