Public has right to know

June 30, 2012Dear Sir,The front page story in which the Ombudsman, Arlene Brock, expressed her concerns regarding interference in how she went about her job set off loud alarm bells in my mind. Ms Brock said she was asked, advised, cajoled and urged to scrap her investigation into the Tucker’s Point SDO, during six high level conversations with three different people. There are a number of alarming questions arising from this story but one thing stands out above all others — we need to know who those people were.I have faith in Ms Brock’s intelligence and integrity — if she is concerned and alarmed by interference in how she goes about her duties, then so am I.I believe the Governor has a duty to discover those names (if he hasn’t already been informed) and a further duty to disclose those names publicly.KATH BELLPaget
