State of ferry service
July 16, 2012Dear Sir,Mr Roban I suggest that when you know what you are talking about then make a statement to the press.I commute every day on the Rockaway Ferry and I object to you accusing the public of malicious untruths. I have never seen you riding the ferry to see what is going on especially as you knew that the commuters were so upset with the condition of the ferries. We did see one of the Opposition MPs on board to see for herself that what she was hearing was true. You indicated that the fast ferries are equipped to board passengers alongside the dock, then where are the steps to board passengers safely? You have a one step and a two step set of stairs that are not secured to the ferry or the dock. Two weeks ago we had a very high tide and the deck of the ferry was nearly four feet above the dock, it took four men (three deck hands and one passenger) to lift each individual passenger up onto the deck, I came away with a large bruise on my arm. Also getting off at Rockaway that evening I nearly fell. Please stop blaming everyone else when it is you who is not listening to the people of Bermuda. We only want what is safe for ourselves and our visitors. We deserve an apology from you.L. HUGHESSouthampton
