We don’t like dirty tricks

October 7, 2012Dear Sir,Bermudians are kind-hearted, friendly and hospitable people. I suspect that if former Premier Brown had consulted the British Governor, the local police department, Immigration Department, Attorney General and debated the possibility of resettling Guantanamo prisoners in Bermuda in an open democratic way in the House of Assembly, Bermuda might have agreed to accept one or two.But the Bermuda public does not like illegal, underhanded deals and simply will not put up with the situation. They do not like to have their intelligence insulted and they consider the secret deal a lack of respect judging from the comments on the internet. It appears to be time the United States government took some responsibility for the dirty tricks Obama administration officials participated in, (possibly not realising they were doing something illegal.)This ongoing mess continues to offend the British Government, the Chinese and the Bermudians.NANCY VWarwick
