Judge accordingly
November 20, 2012Dear Sir,Everyone is or should be well aware that, private enterprise has the right to practise by their ideology or philosophy. However, when it comes to the media, I feel their right is to report pertinent news that affects the community or country as a whole. Surprisingly, certain segments of the local media are rather conspicuous pertaining to issues that do not share their values. Further, the same media have a tendency to repeat misinformation, or not report creditable news that contravenes their point of view. With hopes that if misinformation is heard enough, the consumer will interpret it as facts. Might I add that there is a saying: “Being right is not always popular, and popular is not necessarily right!” I think it is a disservice that certain segments strategically select what they choose to print or elaborate on; yet again it’s their right. Ultimately, the consumer needs to see it for what it is, and judge accordingly.GLENN CHASEWarwick
