Put Bermuda first
December 4, 2012Dear Sir,I hate party politics and believe it will eventually destroy Bermuda. So, it seems that post the 2007 general election the UBP had a report prepared, hardly surprising based upon three successive losses at the polls, with the last two based upon extremely divisive and very negative PLP electioneering coupled with unaffordable and unsustainable gifts in return for votes. I expect that the PLP did the same review every time they lost prior to 1998, but nobody from their party crossed the floor to tell the other side what they did.I had a great deal of respect for Kim Swan and Wayne Furbert, two former leaders of the UBP, but for personal political gain they divulged the existence of a private document prepared for a party that no longer exists, knowing the damage it could cause in an election that the PLP have made racially charged over the last two elections. Both of these politicians were leaders of the opposition UBP and knew that this document existed and didn’t care so long as they were the top dog. Now that their political lives are at risk, one as a PLP candidate and the other as an independent, they felt there was something to gain by bringing up a document from five years ago that does nothing to address the problems being experienced in Bermuda today and nothing to do with the OBA. I had respect but no longer have any and if their actions result in the PLP retaining power, they alone will be responsible for the demise of Bermuda. When will a politician put Bermuda and Bermudians first?DISLOYALPembroke
