Standing strong for whom?
December 10, 2012Dear Sir,I read with sadness the article that the Salvation Army will be spending almost $100,000 to put food on the table of 1,400 families in need. Many families are struggling to make ends meet in the Bermuda of today. Seniors are having to choose between buying needed medication or groceries. Young adults are finding it difficult to get employment. More people are not making their financial commitments to lenders. Bermuda seems to be in a downward spiral. However we are told that the Government “standing strong”. Just who are the Progressive Labour Party government standing strong for? They have given themselves huge pay increases, the best healthcare plans and very attractive pensions. Many social programmes have had their Government funding cut or completely taken away. I ask, is this a Government sympathetic to the poor and the needy, or is it one only for itself and the select few? On December 17, we will be asked to give our opinion, by way of a vote, to the direction in which Bermuda will go. Good luck to all, and may Bermuda and all its citizens be the winner!CHANGERSandys
