Thanks for your contributions

14 December 2012Dear Sir,As 2012 draws to a close, there are some people that I would like to thank publicly.Glenn Fubler, for as long as I can remember, has been a peacemaker from the time he started the Anti Apartheid Movement, the Beaches Movement and now Imagine Bermuda. He is our island’s Nelson Mandela.Sheelagh Cooper has dedicated her life to protecting the rights of children and women and has given so many worthy recommendations in helping the underprivileged.I agreed with Van Martin that Randy Scott the Parliamentary Registrar has done an excellent job; I too experienced great service having recently moved constituencies. My biggest thank you goes to Lynn Spencer. In today’s RG she confided publicly about her experiences in trying to save her heroine addicted son. I read every word she shared, because a best friend of mine died of AIDS from heroin addiction. She said “parents in Bermuda need to really understand that there is a difference between using drugs and alcohol recreationally and self-medicating”, her son suffered from depression. She also revealed her son’s tragic diary notes of attending drug rehab in Bermuda (as well as abroad) and noted the deficiencies in order to save others. I honour her openness and my heart goes out to her.CHERYL POOLEYDevonshire
