Veiled threats aren’t doing anything

March 19, 2013Dear Sir,As reluctant as I am to put pen to paper, I feel it necessary to express my rage and disappointment. On leaving the Botanical Gardens through Camden on the South Gate to head east, a taxi heading in a westerly direction at speeds I’m not sure of, but passing on my side of the road came within a mere second of ending my life as I know it today.I am so disappointed to see this selfish behaviour — at the very least antisocial. On the other hand, my rage is in the way in which we don’t patrol Bermuda’s roads. We murmur veiled threats in headlines, promising that this careless, much less, thoughtless driving will be stamped out. However, until we change and make our methods more visible, the depressing thought is that this anarchy, mayhem and chaos will continue. For scooter users such as myself life on Bermuda’s roads continues to be a crapshoot — so good luck to us who wish to keep the one car rule!TOM BUTTERFIELD, MBE
