Holy Week can be the start of a new beginning

March 26, 2013Dear Sir,This is a great week on the Christian calendar and provides a respite to consider what can be most beneficial to all who take it seriously. Allowing for the fact that we all do not subscribe to Easter, it does however speak to the better people we all need to be.We can look to the more noble pursuit of brotherhood and breaking down barriers. An attitude of reflection on God and what he can mean in our lives is good for us individually and from a community perspective. In a time of unprecedented gun violence and death we need to turn things around.Lawlessness and a lack of respect for the rule of law is making our lovely Bermuda a dangerous place. The Ten Commandments, Good Friday and Easter Sunday with their call to right living is very much needed now. This is generally known as Holy Week and can be the start of living that pleases God and blesses the entire country. Right living exalts a nation and disobedience to what God desires for us leads to reproach and disappointment. We need to ‘big up’ any opportunity that promotes reflection in this area that has a redeeming value for society and the story of the birth, life, death, resurrection and the promised return of our Lord is good reflection. Jesus is the reason for the season and if we are willing we can experience real change for the better if we accept him. Happy Easter.WAYNE B SCOTT
