May 2, 2013Dear SirThis is for the blonde woman in the white car travelling East on Middle Road by TN Tatem school this morning. I am still shaking from fear and anger. It was 8:42am and I was heading west, beginning to slow down in order to stop for the two young male students who had just got off the bus and were about to cross the road to go to school.They pushed the button so that the lights would flash and carefully stepped out into the crosswalk in front of the bus. I saw you heading towards me, going East, and I knew you weren’t going to stop. How could you, considering you must have been going at least 60kph and although you were approaching a flashing light with a stopped bus at a crosswalk, it obviously didn’t matter to you.You sailed through that crosswalk and you missed that young man by mere inches. The only reason you didn’t hit him is because he was careful enough to peek around the side of the bus before heading into the road.If you had hit him, he wouldn’t have had a chance. I saw you glance in your rear-view mirror as you went by, so perhaps you have an inkling of how close you were to killing a child, but I suspect you don’t. I only wish I had seen your licence plate number so that I could have reported you, but you were going too fast for me to see it.Whoever you are — I hope you read this and think about how close you were to injuring or killing an innocent child. I also hope that if you continue to drive in this manner, the police get to you in time.Still ShakingSouthampton
