June 19, 2013Dear sir,I think it’s cheaper to take your cat to King Edward VII Memorial than to the vet! I asked my vet recently what the cost of an upcoming operation on my dog was going to be. “Better bring your bank manager” was his reply. My retort: “Wouldn’t have to if you didn’t charge so much”, was not appreciated.My concern is that there are a growing number of animals in Bermuda which are being denied proper medical care because the owners just can’t afford the trip to the vet.There needs to be some type of regulatory board/agency to oversee this field. Unfortunately there is no animal insurance in Bermuda, don’t know whether that would be feasible, might be worthwhile to investigate.ANIMAL WATCH DOGSouthampton
